Our Mission

“The Love Movement”
Continuing the movement that Jesus Started

(John 3:16, Acts 1:1-11)
 The Motivation: Love
“You must Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength… You must love your neighbor as Yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31)

The Method: Make Disciples
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The Means: The Church
“…On this rock, I will build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.  And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19)

The Message: “You are worth dying for”
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.  For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” (Romans 5:5-10)
The Mentality: “Love never fails”
“Love never fails.  But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Our Guiding Principles

What makes Oakland Mills Church of God unique?
  • Jesus must be exalted in everything we do and say to motivate us to do things in an excellent way
  • We start on time and end on time
  • Prayer is the lifeblood of our ministry
  • Growing spiritually is much more important than solely growing naturally.  Spiritual growth will lead to natural growth.
  • We refuse to perform before others in our services; we choose to please the Lord by being authentic before Him
  • We are a family, we maintain real relationships and anyone who joins the ministry is considered a part of the family.
  • Each of us, from the youngest to the oldest, regardless of differences, is just as important as one another in the sight of God and are necessary to furthering the Gospel.  We recognize that we need each other.
  • We recognize that we are here to continue the love movement that Jesus started
  • We are actively fulfilling the mission to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19); the lessons and activities are biblically based, and Christ centered
  • Love is the motivation behind all we do
